Yoga and Qi Gong both use breath, visualization, stretching, and movement to open energy channels in the body and give yourself a sustainable, calm vitality that will heal disease and pain and encourage health and well being.

I teach Yoga in a way that is accessible to any level of flexibility or previous training. Whether you need stretching and strengthening postures to reduce physical pain, or meditation and breathing exercises to reduce mental stress and anxiety I give you the exercises and plan that will most effectively help you.

For physical Yoga postures I use support from the wall, straps, and laying on the floor while stretching to keep integrity in the back. My focus is alignment based to prevent injury and promote healthy posture and pain free movement. Below you can follow along with a video that incorporates stretches for the legs, hips and shoulders using the wall for support.

To effectively deal with mental stress and anxiety I teach meditation and breathing exercises in a way that is easy, effective and simplifies the esoteric theories that can be a barrier to learning these healing practices. Meditation is a part of my daily practice, and has brought me clarity of mind and reduced feelings of overwhelm.

In our private lesson we look at aspects of your everyday stress, physical activity, where you have pain in your body, and we design a plan of action to give you the tools physical health and a calm mind.

Qi Gong

Would you like to feel energized and relaxed at the same time? Qi Gong releases blocked energy that causes pain in the body, and cultivates a balanced flow of energy and vitality.

What is Qi Gong? Qi Gong is an ancient Taoist healing art which translates as “cultivating energy”. Tai Chi is a form of Qi Gong with a series of continuous flowing movements that combine into a form. In Qi Gong we repeat the individual movements, making it easy to learn and relax into a meditative state.

How do I teach a Class? At the beginning of class we discover where you hold tension, and practice warm up exercises that include shaking, stretching and knocking to get the energy moving and release anything that is unwanted. Swinging exercises teach us to move from our core, and to relax our shoulders and arms. After we release this tension we go into flowing movements where we use minimal effort to make circular movements that mimic the energy flow in our body. We end with a few minutes of standing meditation to allow the healthy energy patterns we’ve established to strengthen. After the session you leave with a sense of calm vitality and peaceful strength.
